Dreadful! - Review of Newlands Country House, Southwold, England

Unfortunately Newlands doesn't look like the pictures which were obviously taken before it was left to run down. There are some good points - our room was a good size with a door opening on to a small paved area at the back but it lacked facilities like a table and chairs which would have made it more welcoming and encouraging guests to sit outside. Instead there was one tired looking green plastic chair randomly placed near another of the garden rooms. The walk from the carpark to the garden rooms was ñpleasant until approaching a paved area that desperately needed some tlc for instance removing what looked like last year's hanging baskets.
Breakfast was very disappointing. They described having a vast choice of breakfast cereals which was actually only 3, and my poached egg on toast was very disappointing. We skipped breakfast the next day.
It could be a lovely place to stay but it needs money spending on it first. We felt very short-changed when paying our bill - £250 for 2 nights. I'm sure if we'd paid £125 for both nights we wouldn't be feeling so disappointed and let down as the image portrayed on their website was not what we experienced.
Spend some money on the place - patio furniture outside each garden room, hanging baskets and flowers in tubs, get rid of the damp in the bathroom, it needs decorating, better choice at breakfast, and milk in the rooms for tea and coffee. They'd run out!!5 xhibnmnnnnn!'n.niiiiiii
