Should I Replace My Bathtub With A Walk-In Shower?
questionsQ: I live in a small condo with one bathroom. I never use the tub and I want to replace it with a luxury walk-in glass shower. Will this make my condo hard to sell in the future?
--Janet, Chicago
A: Technically speaking, converting a full bath to a ¾ bath will create a slight negative. However, in today's world with fewer people luxuriating in standard bathtubs I doubt that the conversion will really matter in a future sale.
Exceptions to this would be taking out a super marble tiled Jacuzzi bath and putting in a standard shower. This would not be wise. Conversely, if you have a standard bath tub and replace it with a beautifully appointed large shower with a frameless clear glass enclosure, this would probably be perceived value wise as a plus.
