Shower-to-Bath Ratio
Mark Shoenfelt of Duncansville, Pennsylvania, writes: Marilyn: I read your answer about baths vs showers. (July 26, 2010) What would be a good ratio of showers to baths in a week, factoring in the desire to save water?
Marilyn responds: I’d say six quick showers and one nice, long bath. With a low-flow shower head, a four-minute shower uses about ten gallons of water. So that’s 60 gallons in a week. Adding 40 gallons for the average bath brings your weekly total to 100 gallons. Pretty good.
